Hero4Heros for spring and summer 2017: sequins, prints and textures inspired by Gaudi’s masterpieces

The fashion brand Hero4Heroes presents a campaign for its spring-summer collection, captured by a renowned photographer FranjoMatković, who perfectly merged lively colours and textures of the dresses with the interesting interior of the Miramar Hotel in Opatija.
Designer Marijana Hero found inspiration for her new collection in the work of the famous architect from the Art Nouveau period – AntonioGaudi, the creator of the distinctive neo-Catalan style, who combined neo-Gothic structures with elements of Maori and Oriental art, in a truly innovative manner, creating absolutely unrepeatable architecture, infused by an inspired understanding of nature.
“As soon as I entered Park Güell, when I first touched its perfectly amorphous creations, I knew that one of my future collections would be influenced by the work of hisspecial genius,” explains the designer.

Most of the collection consists of multi-coloured muslin dresses with print, inspired by Gaudi’s stained-glass windows, and unique sequin dresses with patterns that were custom made based on the designer’s sketches. Why sequins?

“Sequins are such a perfect choice for evoking small ceramic tiles used for mosaics of colours and forms that we find in almost all of Gaudi’s work.”
The collection also features plisse evening dresses, embodying ribbed structure found on pillars and stairs of Park Güell, as well as on the façades of the buildings, such as the wine cellar and the chapel, and on the ceiling of La Pedrera attic.
Golden shirts borrow from Gaudi’s work in forged iron, while the sequinslook like ceramic mosaics of CasaBatllo, La Pedrera and the serpentine bench in Park Güell. When it comes to the connections between plisse and sequins, i.e. colours and irregular lines, the designer uses metallic gold and silver.
Wrapping up the story about the collection she said: “Barcelona has a special smell, the smell of the sea, fruit, and Gaudi, emanating from every street, every building, and every tile. I just love the smell of Barcelona.”

The collection was worn by Dora Sabljić (Myguys models) and Manuela Fabac (Fox models). Credit for hairstyling goes to MijoMajhen, and for make-up to DajanaPajkić. Photos were taken by FranjoMatković.

“But man does not create…he discovers.”
